Sally Hansen Night Lights

Today, I have Sally Hansen Night Lights, which was a polish that I hunted a long time for. After buying a dud (it wasn't holo at all) I finally found a nicely priced holographic bottle on ebay, and snapped it up.

Night Lights is a bunch of square silver and holographic glitter in a charcoal grey jelly base. I applied it over two layers of China Glaze Liquid Leather, because I was too lazy to build it up.

Sunlight, no flash.

Natural light, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.
Blurred for sparkliness.

Sunlight, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

You know, I'm actually pretty disappointed with Night Lights. It looked so spectacular in every picture I saw and in the bottle, but on my nails, I'm just not really feeling the love. It's not as holo as I imagined it would be, and the color of the base kind of limits the layering capabilities of the polish for me. All of this would be forgivable if the holo effect was linear instead of scattered, but it is very scattered. And since I feel there are more versatile and more holographic glitter topcoats out there, Night Lights has to go.
As far as application goes, Night Lights was easy. It went on nicely, dried quickly, and only needed one layer of topcoat to be smooth. However, the base is really thin and I find the color of it rather unappealing, so I would never wear this alone. In the pictures, I have on two layers of Night Lights on top of two layers of China Glaze Liquid Leather.

And that's all from me today Thanks for reading, and have a happy Monday! n_n

I always layer these sheer black, holo glitter packed colors over another black. I just don't have the patience to build-up five coats. I just wish these guys would look good indoors. :(

I think most folks do...who has the patience for all that besides Jesus and Mother Theresa? :p
I know, I bought it years ago, not knowing so many lemmed it, and first time I tried it I hated it. I never felt the love either and am rather disappointed now that I know so many gives it so much praise. Well, I got it cheap in a SH lot off eBay. No big deal. I guess I could swap it...

Omgg, you're one of the only people I've heard who didn't like it!
And that's true, it's good that you didn't have to pay much for it...if you swapped it, I think you could get something nice. :)
You k now, if you can forget about the fact that it's suppose to be a holo (I know, I know) it's a pretty polish on its own. But yeah, that does suck that you expect one thing and got another. :(

Ahahahaha, that's true.
But then like...it's so hard to forget, you know? Especially because there are these little holo flashes, and all I could think looking at it was "There should be more here, BOOOO."
Jealous! Looks great on you though.

Aw thanks! And lmbo, this is another one that you can have if you want it. I have a feeling that you would make it look all magical and stuff too.
Have you ever tried Icing's "Blackout"? It requires either a laydown of a dark shade first, as it's quite thin, but the holo is pretty decent! And because of that, you'd be able to layer it over just about anything!!

I've never tried it, but I've seen it....I think I don't want it, because to me, there's no point in having a black holo that's only good for layering, unless the holo effect is linear. If it's scattered like Icing and Night Lights, I'd rather just have and use a regular holo glitter like Fairy Dust.
But thanks for the rec! Maybe if I see it in a blogsale, I'll get it...I just don't want to pay Icing prices for something that I don't think is thattt useful. Yeah I'm cheap. :p
I think I agree with you, in the bottle its awesome but on the nail...it disappoints :(

*sad high five*
I hate when this happens. :(
I bought this one at a five below a month or two ago and mine wasn't a dud at all and it looked great, which was surprising b/c I always get the holo duds thought I would agree with the earlier statment that it looks kinda boring indoors
