Okay, So I'm Extremely Tardy For the Party

But whatever, I'm still gonna say it. Happy Thanksgiving!! ^_^
I know it's been pretty dead around here for the past week, but between fighting with bus coordinators, cloudy weather at home, forgetting my bottle of acetone at school, helping to cook dinner, spending quality time with the people I love and doing my damndest to avoid the ones I don't, there just wasn't much time for nails. However, I do have pictures of the mani that I've been wearing...here it is in all its raggedy four-day-old glory.

To do this, I used:
1 coat of Rescue Beauty Lounge Under the Stars
1 coat of L.A. Colors Aqua Crystals
1 coat of Zoya Ivanka

I wasn't really going for anything in particular when I put these together. I wore RBL Under the Stars home because I was planning on re-taking the pictures for it on the next day.But the next day was cloudy + I had to go to this party. You can't go to a party with no glitter on your nails, so I slapped on the first stuff I could grab...you can kind of see how rushed this was, because the coverage is so uneven. In any case, I don't really like it. I don't think it's ugly, but I'll still be glad to see it go.

I hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekends!

L.A. Colors Electrified

In the interests of procrastinating on homework, I decided to reorganize my stash and nail supplies this afternoon. While doing that, I came across a few forgotten L.A. Colors polishes that I got at Dollar Tree this summer. One of them was pink, so I was like heyy, let me put it on. So here's Electrified, from L.A. Colors' Color Craze line.

Electrified is a cool-toned, silver-speckled, pink foil. I wish I could be more descriptive, but I really don't know what to call this shade. Any suggestions?

I don't know what I think about Electrified. I like how rich and saturated the color is, and I like how reflective and blingy it is. But then sometimes, I look at it, and it looks like a pink frost polish, instead of a foil, and I do not want.  I also don't like it with my skin...it's a little too cool. So jury's still out on this one.
But at least Electrified's formula wasn't bad...about what you'd expect from a foil. A tiny bit thick-feeling, but not unmanageable, and opaque in two coats. I made sure to take my time with application, and to let it dry a bit between coats. Consequently, I didn't have trouble with dragging, streaking, or brushstrokes. It dried pretty quickly as well, which was nice.  The only bad thing is that cleanup was hard, because of all the little silver speckles everywhere.
Overall, I'm pretty neutral about Electrified. I don't like it, but I don't dislike it. And it was only a dollar, so I think it's okay for me to feel that way, lol. Maybe it will make a good stamping polish.

Anywho, that's all I've got for today. I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!!

L.A. Colors Radioactive

I still have one more Zoya left to do, but I just wanted to take a quick break from the brand. Today, I got to try out L.A. Colors Radioactive, from the Craze line. This came from the same family as Nuclear Energy, although they look 100% different from one another.

Radioactive is a light blue polish with a strong, sea-green shimmer. I didn't get any of the green shimmer and this picture is crappay, but it's there. Although the color is bold and vibrant, the overall effect is more mermaid-y than...radioactive.
And sorry for the bubbles and stuff. I'm going to try to remove the patch this evening, so I can apply a better one.

While Radioactive is not the most revolutionary or eye-catching color, it's pretty! It's simple, bright, and fun to wear. The shade of blue is nice too. I normally don't like light blues (especially pastels), but I do like how this one looks with my skin. It reminds me of China Glaze's Beauty and the Beach, but more muted and with less of a shimmer. Like...Beauty and the Beach is a more radioactive version of Radioactive. Heehee.
The formula for Radioactive wasn't too bad. The brush needed a haircut, and the polish itself was a little thin, but application was fine. The polish spread easily and smoothly, and I used four coats to reach full opacity, which I actually didn't mind.

L.A. Colors Nuclear Energy (And some Nfu-Oh)

Today, I'm wearing Nuclear Energy from L.A. Colors. It's a bright and cheerful color, which is exactly what I needed after breaking another nail this morning. *sucks teef*

Nuclear Energy is a darkish, red-based, purple jelly. The first time I looked at this on my nails, I immediately wanted a green Konad polish, so I could do a Barney-inspired mani. Nuclear Energy is the color of his flesh, but I think the color in this pic is slightly off.

Kind of sunlight, no flash.
We got a little bit of sun, but it was pretty watery and thin, so I don't know if I can count it all the way as sunlight.

Nuclear Energy is another simple, inexpensive, and pretty color. I bought it thinking that it would be creme, but was pleasantly surprised to see that it was in fact, a jelly. Jelly polish is so cute...I always feel like squishing it.
The formula was....a little iffy? It spread easily and dried in good time, but it was also quite watery. I know that translucence is par for the course with jellies, but Nuclear Energy took it too far. smh. The pictures are with four thick coats, and even though I can't see it on my nails with my eyes, the pictures still show my tips. In the future, I'll be wearing this over white, because I generally like to draw my line at three coats, unless the polish is so spectacular that it warrants the extra work. While Nuclear Energy is nice, it isn't spectacular, so I'll be taking the lazy man's way out from here on out. However, it did dry super glossy and didn't even need topcoat. I put on some anyway out of principle.
Overall, I'm happy with Nuclear Energy. This is my very first time ever trying a L.A. Colors polish (I never see it in stores), so I'm happy that my experience was positive with them. I hate trying a brand for the first time and having it be awful. *looks at Nubar*

Later:
I added one coat of Nfu-Oh 51 to Nuclear Energy.

The sun suddenly came out. o_O
