Finger Paints Winter's Whisper + Haul

Guess what, guess what, guess whatt?! I GOT A JOB!! *does Survival Scroll dance*
It's as an office assistant in my major department's office, and even though it's going to be tedious bitch work, I am so super happay! Unemployment and brokeness begone!! ^__^
It's a shame I don't have something more cheerful on to celebrate the occasion, but oh well...we're gonna roll with it. This is Finger Paints Winter's Whisper from the Seduced by Fall Collection.

Winter's Whisper is a graphite grey polish with lots of flaky silver shimmer.

I don't really like Winter's Whisper. I admire the color...it looks so deliciously cold and industrial. But I don't like the effect that the shimmer brings. It's not the kind of shimmer that sparkles at all....it's definitely the kind that shines, which gives the polish a dull metallic sheen. It makes me feel like I colored my nails with a pencil and then covered it with topcoat....it's just so...flat. No bueno.
Application-wise, Winter's Whisper gave me a bit of trouble as well...the formula was thin, and it took about four coats to get it to bottle color. It felt like it took a million years too. But on the upside, Winter's Whisper actually went on smoothly and dried quickly.

I decided to try it matte and added one coat of Essie Matte About You to the mix.

I like Winter's Whisper much more as a matte. The flatness is so becoming and makes the polish look even colder and more industrial. Interestingly enough, the matteness really brings out that "pencil lead" look. But it somehow appears much better.

And I have some haulage to share! Don't look at me like that.
This first set of pictures are from Magic Maid's blog sale, which I  mentioned yesterday:

Konad Plate M12
That reindeer makes me so uncomfortable...why does he look so evil? o_O

Konad Plate M13
Ahh I love the little voodoo man and the zombie girl. So cute!

Sally Hansen Mystic Lilac and LA Girl Rock Star Groupie

OPI La Paz-i-tively Hot Matte and China Glaze Pink Rox-E
I've been lemming these for so long, and it's great to have them.

Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm and Misa Toxic Seduction

Finger Paints Evergreen Dream and Icy Iris
Huge huge huge lemmings, both of these. Especially Icy Iris...*sigh*

This second group is from Sephora. Upon hearing about the Family and Friends sale, I went to the website and acted a fool. :(
But the shipping was crazy fast, you know...I ordered like at 3am on Friday morning, and bam...they were here by 10am today. O_O

Illamasqua Rampage and Phallic.
Ahh I love the names on these...they sound so wild and animalistic.

Illamasqua Baptiste and NARS Tokaido Express

I would feel worse about these, except for that they were on sale. Plus, I am currently standing on top of a mountain of dead lemmings, and it feels so gewd. Plus, I'm still on budget, because I ate less than normal thi month.
PLUS. I got a job. Ohohohoho.

But that's all I've got for today...gotta gotta run to class. Wishing you a beautiful Monday! ^_^

Maybelline Gray-T Glamour + Fauxnad and a Haul!!

lol, today was interesting. I arrived at my first ceramics class about fifteen minutes late, and just my luck, she's the kind of teacher who is a stickler for punctuality. So she started hating me a little from the first second she met me. Then, she gave us a long lecture about proper studio behavior and said that we weren't allowed to have long nails. So then I started hating her a little bit too. I'm still gonna grow mine out though...I'll just do it in secret. *shifty eyes* But on the upside, the studio manager was really nice and friendly, and after classes were over for the day, I got to buy myself some nice things. And I wore a mani that I really liked, although someone called it depressing. But it's not. :(

I kept on Maybelline Gray-T Glamour for a base, and used China Glaze OMG to stamp on a floral full nail pattern (the one with the big daisy) from BM16. It was very easy and took about fifteen minutes from start to finish.

I'm using my right hand as a model today because I messed up the left hand a little. So please excuse the shredded cuticles and chipped polish. My right hand be going through some thangs.

I don't think it looks depressing...I like it! I like the grey-on-grey thing. And indoors, it was very subtle and elegant looking. It looked like a couch. And I like things that look like couches, because most couches are soft and nice. But as an aside, I need to find a backup bottle of OMG for konading. I knew I should have bought two bottles when I had the chance.
But anyway, after classes were over for the day, I went to CVS and Staples. At CVS, I found the Milani Liquid Metal and Haute Value displays (which I NEVER saw that whole time I was home) and the  These Are Regular Colors, but Just Throw Some Glittah on That Shit and Act Like It's New  Just Add Sparkle display. Here's what I got from each:

Milani Dress Maker (yeah, I had to do it) and Milani Molten Rock.
These weren't on sale, so I really should not have gotten them, but they were the last ones in their respective displays. So I got them anyway. I'm waiting for a BOGO to go back and get Fashion Design, One of a Kind, and possibly High Fashion from the Haute Value collection. And from the Liquid Metal collection, I still want Metal Gear and Hot Metal.

Revlon Galaxy (I was so excited to see it) and Revlon Belle. The bottom picture is blurred a little to show to major sparkliness that's going on here.
These were on sale (Buy one, get one half off) and in reality, I only got Belle to get the deal. I may return it anyway, because I already have New York Summer Hollywood Night, and I think they're exactly the same thing. Here's a side by side comparison:

From far away.

And up close.
So tomorrow, Belle will go back. I'm still deciding on whether or not I want to exchange though. Part of me wants to just get my money back, but part of me wants Star. So we'll see.

And finally, I got some real storage for my babies! I've been keeping them in a cardboard box. Ideally, I'd like a small file cabinet or plastic stacked drawers to keep them in. One that can fit on top of my dresser. I still have a baby stash, so something small should satisfy my needs for a while. I found something that I thought would work in Staples:
It was $29.99.
And I was MAD, because just last week, there was a coupon for this item...50% off! But I was home last week, and our Staples didn't have this particular set of drawers. Man, our stores don't have nothing. :(
But anyway, it didn't work that well. The drawers are wide and deep enough, but there is this weird lip at the front of each drawer, and the lip topples over most nail polishes. Some shorter ones can stand up, like the ones in the third and sixth drawer. But most of them have to lay down. I briefly considered taking it back, but I'm going to hang on to it. Hopefully for Christmas or my birthday, I can find something better. And when I do, this will definitely come in handy for organizing other stuff, like cosmetics, toiletries, and school supplies. Yes, I'd keep them all in the same place. Don't judge moi.
But anyway, with this drawer, the first three are tried and the last three are untried. And I had plenty of space in my trieds drawers, but I almost ran out in my untrieds. I had to lay some on top of each other, and turn some sideways for everything to fit. O_O
That's bad. ~_~

Okay, okay, I'm finally finally done. Sorry for the novel, but I have so many thangs to share. ^_^
Ahaha, look at all the different emotions. It's like I'm schizophrenic. Have a great night everyone!

Brucci Typhoon Lagoon + Konad and a Haul!

Okay, so I lied. If anything, I'm wearing more purple today than I was yesterday. But yesterday, I was le tired. Far too tired to remove nail polish and reapply it and then let it cure. So I decided to do some nail art over it, to keep it fresh. I based the design off the name of one of OPI's new colors, Catch Me In Your Net.

Sunlight, no flash.
Brucci Typhoon Lagoon is the base color, and I used Wet n Wild French White Creme to stamp the fishnet pattern from Konad (yes, real konad!! o_o) plate M57.

Sunlight, no flash.
Then, on my ring finger, I applied a purple fimo butterfly. It's supposed to be caught in the net. lmao.

Natural light, no flash.
Lastly, because I couldn't help myself, I put on one coat of Finger Paints Floatin' on a Cloud, and finished the whole thing with two coats of Poshe. The Floatin' on a Cloud is ten times more obvious in person.

I'm suprisingly happy with this design. I fear fimo, because in the wrong hands, it can look tacky and gaudy. And yes...my hands are so so wrong. But I like how subtle this is. I think the key for me will be to just use it in moderation, and to cut the stuff as thin as possible. When my nails get longer, I'll probably use more, but for now, this is enough.
And I bought the fimo from i_fact, a Hong Kong seller. I paid $6 USD for 100 canes, which I think is a pretty good deal.

Muahaha, but that is not the haul that I mentioned in the title. I was talking about some stuff that I bought from maytheps-au.com. I don't really have plans for all this stuff, but I'm sure something will come up.

I've been dying to have a set of these, for when I need to soak off some hardcore glitter. They even have a little scraper on the inside of the liquid receptacles to help with removal.

I also got a 12 piece set of nail art brushes. ^_^

A set of rhinestone picker uppers. I've used toothpicks, but I hate how the splinter and have to be thrown away. I also have a silicone one from Sally's, but when I try to press in the gems, they like...slide around and mess up the design. I hope these will let me put them in neatly and securely. And they'd be good for decals, which toothpicks and the silicone picker upper does nothing for.

Clear rhinestones, in 10 shapes: round, square, rectangle, teardrop, crescent, heart, star, flower, triangle, and oval.

Oval Rhinestones in 12 Colors, Round Rhinestones in 12 colors.

Gold and Silver Beads.
These things are seriously tiny. And they move in the package by themselves, so I think mine are haunted.

Demon infested beads aside, I'm really happy with the service I received from this company. The products appear to be of a good quality...the rhinestones aren't the nasty dull kind, the brushes feel sturdy and aren't shedding, and the soakers have good rubber seals. They have scary fast shipping too. I ordered on June 15th, my order shipped out on the 17th, and I received it this afternoon. Considering the weekend and the fact that this stuff came from Hong Kong, that's really amazing. And best of all, the prices are really great. This stuff came out to $20 USD, which is inexpensive to me, considering what I got.
They also have an ebay store where the shipping is just as fast, and it's free. I think the ebay store is better for individual or smaller purchases, like if you want a few rhinestone wheels or some acrylic powder or something. But for bigger purchases, I think the storefront is far more convenient, because there's a cart and if you register, they keep track of your purchases.
Well, that's enough shameless promotion for today. I hope everyone has a great and relaxing evening!

More Fauxnads!!

lol, yes...I ordered more fauxnads. I can't help it...I like to have options. ^_^
This set came from Hawaii, and I got it from the ebay seller BundleMonster. Ebay has since yanked the listing, but they can still be found on Amazon, here. It's a good deal, $17.99 for 21 plates, and even though I haven't tried them, the quality appears to be higher than the other fauxnads that I've bought from Hong Kong. And by that, I mean that the patterns appear crisper, and the plates feel a little sturdier too. Not as sturdy as legit Konad, nor as crisp. But still.

These are some of the full nail designs. I'm an overjoyed camper, because I love them all! Especially the houndstooth! I like full nail designs because they give maximum impact with minimal work, provided that there's no double stamping needed to cover the nail.

I got an extra BM04 plate. I don't know if that was an accident or what.

Some more bigger patterns.

The dreaded french tip plates. I do like the patterns on BM17 though.

Look at the peacock!!

When I opened this package up, my face was like the Kool Aid man's. I was so happy! lol! The shipping time was almost scary fast too. I guess they knew the popo was coming to shut them down. I ordered around 3 am on the 29th, after a long and hard deliberation. They shipped it the same day, and it arrived today. I'm really happy with the service that I received, so I'm sad that I can't leave feedback about it on ebay.
I also won't be buying any more fauxnads for a long time. I have more than enough to play with at the moment. Instead, I have to figure out how in the world I'm going to store these things, because these did not come individually wrapped either. I'm not upset about that because heyy, less plastic being used. But now I have to find some kind of...wallet or mini-disc book that will hold all my plates and protect them from scratches or from being bent. Hm.
