Essie Lollipop

I noticed that it's been a while since I've shown a red around here, so today, I've got Essie Lollipop, which I believe is a core collection polish.

Lollipop is a cheery cherry red jelly.

Sunlight, no flash.

Natural light, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

I only bought Lollipop because I couldn't find Jelly Apple in the store, but I still like it. It's a bright, true, and sweet shade of red, and since it reminds me of a Jolly Rancher, I suppose it's very accurately named too. The only thing about it is that I feel like it's kind of boring-pretty, you know? Like it looks good, but it's not gonna entertain me for the day, even with the jelly finish. For that reason, I'll probably use it for my toes and continue looking for Jelly Apple for my fingers.
One nice thing about Lollipop though is that it has a perfect formula. I used three butter-like coats for a relatively opaque finish, and dry time wasn't too terrible. I did have to apply it over a milky base coat though, because my nails are horrifically stained in some spots (despite my efforts to remove them) and it showed up right through the red, even after multiple layers. So if you also have bad staining, that's something to consider.

On another note, I was finally able to finish counting the entries for the Lady of the Lake giveaway this morning. The random number generator selected Kris of My Lucid Bubble fame as the winner, so a big congratulations goes to her, and much thanks goes to everyone who participated. n_n

And that's all from me today! Thanks for reading, and have a great day! ^_^

I have this completely unsubstantiated theory that red pigment in nail polish makes for a decent formula anyway, just as yellow generally makes for a really horrible one. I don't know. I just came up with it :L

I like it, though. It's a good, strong, basic red. Suits you, as well!

You may be on to something actually, because I don't think I've ever worn a red with a bad formula. Except for Slammin' Red, and the problems came more from the glitter than anything else.
You should take a poll of others and see what they say!

And thanks! I agree that it's one of those staple-y reds.
I think this is the first time I've seen you wear red...very pretty! I feel the same way about reds, though, they look nice at me, but they don't make me look down at my hands through-out the day and think, oooh, pretty!

Ahahaha omg, yeah...I never wear red. Reds, pinks, and berries are all just no. They just always seem like such predictable nail polish colors to me, even when they have glitter and stuff.
But I do really like reds like this on you.
THanks for the comments on the formula; now I know to pass this one by on my perfect-red hunt :D

Glad to help! And I'm interested to see where your perfect red hunt ends...I've seen others go on similar quests, and it's fun to behold. ^_^

I'm glad that you like it and don't find it boring LOL. I'm sure most people don't find it boring, because you guys are normal.
I don't know what it is though...most reds just put me to sleep. :(
Love the colour and what a shiny finish!!!
I have a suggestion for a perfect red: Zoya Sooki (for those who like blue-based reds) or Zoya Tamsen (for those who prefer orange-based reds). They are just Perfect - in my opinion ;)

You know, I actually had Tamsen, but kicked it out of my stash for being too boring. You're right, it is the perfect tomato red, but I was like nooo.
Sooki is really pretty though...if I can't get my hands on Jelly Apple, then I'll probably get Sooki.
Thank you for visiting my blog.

That is so pretty!! You would show a red while I'm on a no-buy!

loll sorry! But at least its a core color, so it'll keep until the nobuy is done. Unless you don't want it to... ;)
