Famous Polish Trailer Park Rash

Hey guys! For today, I have another Famous Polish to show you guys. This time, it's Trailer Park Rash. I think it's supposed to be Trailer Park Trash, but it says Rash on the bottle, so that's what we're going with. Either way, it's hilarious.

Sunlight, no flash.
Trailer Park Rash is a bold shimmery teal. In person, it's much more green than it appears in these pictures. Not sure what shenanigans my camera was up to.

I really like Trailer Park Rash. It looks kind of boring in the pictures, but in person, it's more interesting. There's more green like I said, and in some lights, the shimmer almost looks kind of duochrome-y. It did have a tendency to bubble though...I had to apply it three different times to get it presentable, which was not fun. But I don't think there is anything to be done about that...I will probably just not use it so often and when I do, I will have to be extra careful.
Formula-wise, Trailer Park Rash was pretty good besides the bubbling. It went on smoothly and only needed two coats to be opaque. It also dried quickly and wore very well. The pictures are after three full days of wear, going on four, and besides a little tipwear, it still looks good. I should also mention that there's no topcoat in the pictures because I couldn't find mine, so really, the dry time and wear is doubly impressive.

And that's all from me today!!
Thanks for reading, and I hope everyone has a very happy Friday! (I'm sad because I want to see The Avengers and can't because I have too much homework. ;___; If you go, enjoy it doubly for me, okay?)

Sinful Colors Swatches (Summer Color Edition)

Yesterday, I was going through my drawers looking for stuff to purge and realized that I have a bunch of Sinful Colors polishes, but haven't seriously worn a single one. I don't know why...they just never really cry out to me. But if for no other reason than to know which ones I wanted to purge and which ones to keep, I decided to swatch them. I won't be posting them all at once, so for today, I have All About You, Unicorn, and Rise and Shine.

All About You is a clear base with lots of flat, irregularly sized antique gold and copper shimmer flakes in it.

Sunlight, no flash.

Natural light, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

This is the oogliest thing I've seen on my nails in a long time. Like after I was all done, I looked at my nails and said aloud, "DAMN this shit is ooglay." I can't even stand how much I hate this right now. It'll probably look much better on someone with a different skin tone or layered, but by itself and opaque, I rebuke and refuse All About You.
The formula was okay though..it was rather sheer (pictures are with four coats) and the base was a bit too thick, but besides that, no problems were had. There are bubbles, but that's because of the ceiling fan.

Unicorn is a soft, buttery yellow creme.

Even though Unicorn is yellow, I needed to buy it...I don't know. I saw it and just needed to have it. And I really don't regret the purchase, because I love the color, both in general and on me. It's a very wearable and sweet color, and gives me hope for yellow. But despite my love for the color, I can say with 100% certainty that I will never ever wear it again, thanks to the nightmare that was the formula. It took four painfully streaky coats to look like something, and I really can't put myself through that again. But if anyone can recommend a similar shade with a more reasonable formula, I'd love to hear about it! I really do like the color.

Rise and Shine is a bright teal green creme base packed with crystalline microshimmer. The shimmer shows silver, green, and blue, although you'll probably have to enlarge the pictures to see it at all.

Love Rise and Shine! The base color is very fun and pretty, and the shimmer is fantastic. In sunlight, it twinkles so beautifully and reminds me a bit of BB Couture's signature glitter, just crushed up really finely.
It also went on quite smoothly...the pictures are with three coats of color, and they dried pretty quickly. The only thing about Rise and Shine is that it dried matte, like a neon. So topcoat is definitely necessary to get the most out of it.

And that's all from me today! Thanks for reading, and have a fun fun Friday!
P.S. My giveaway ends today, so don't forget to enter! n_n

Diamond Cosmetics Don't Teal My Heart Away

Although the weather is gorgeous today, there's unfortunately no time for swatching. The end is nigh. *trembles gently* So from my backlog, I have Diamond Cosmetics Don't Teal My Heart Away.

Don't Teal my Heart Away is a slightly dusty, mid-range teal blue creme.

I don't really have too much to say about Don't Teal My Heart Away, except for that it's totally a winner. The color is pretty...it's a simple, straightforward teal blue that I could imagine looking good on just about any skin tone. It's also a beauty purchase that you can feel good about, since for every bottle sold, Diamond Cosmetics donates 25 cents to ovarian cancer research.
And along with a lovely, flattering color and a good cause, Don't Teal My Heart Away can also boast a perfect formula. It went on silky smooth with the perfect consistency, and was very well pigmented.  A careful person could do one thick coat and be done, but with the lighting conditions I was working with, I went with two, and was quite pleased with the opacity and depth of color that I ended up with.

And with that, I am all done. Hopefully, just for today though. ^_~
Whatever happens, have a beautiful Saturday!

American Apparel Malibu Green

I haven't shown a bright color in a while (I suck at summer), so for today, I have American Apparel Malibu Green.

Malibu Green is not really green...it's more of a green-leaning teal than anything. A saturated, bright, green-leaning teal.

I was planning on giving Malibu Green to my sister, but now, I think I'm gonna keep it. It's so pretty and cheerful, and is perfect for warmer weather. I also think it is very flattering on my skin, and will definitely be wearing it as a pedi this summer. I must admit that my soul burns a bit because this polish is from Satan American Apparel and I HATE them and promised myself that I'd never own their shit. But I have pretty much no self-control, so....yeah.
In terms of application, Malibu Green was quite good. I used two coats of color for the pictures, and there was no dragging or streaking. There are some weird-looking spots on the corners of my nails in the pictures, but that's from the ridiculously thick Poshe that I refuse to give up on.

And that's all I've got for today! Thanks for reading and enjoy your Sunday!
I know I will, because I'm going home home homeee!  ^______^

Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune

Today's blue is Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune, from their recently released Spring Collection.

Teal of Fortune is a blue-green jelly base, packed with small and flat blue, green, and gold shimmer particles.
It's like if Zoya Charla and Sinful Colors Nail Junkie had a baby.

Teal of Fortune is awesome, and these pictures do not do it justice. The little flakes of shimmer suspended in the jelly base make it look like some sort of jelly fish (not jellyfish), and I love the little flecks of gold that come peeking through. And it sparkles like the surface of a swimming pool in the sun. I'm such  a happy camper with this polish, it's so pretty.
      I found Teal of Fortune's formula to be a little bit thick, perhaps because of the composition, but it was still fairly smooth going on. I needed three coats for full opacity, and dry time was not very bad but it sure wasn't quick. Why do they put that lie on the bottle? Also, please double up on basecoat with this one...the staining was horrific. ;_;

And unrelated to this polish, you may have noticed that there is a new button in the sidebar. I generally reject requests to put ads up on The Phalanges Files, because I feel like nobody wants to be looking at ads all the time. But the Fresh Air Fund is an organization that I feel does really good work, and I know lots of people who could have used something like that growing up. So when someone from there contacted me, I couldn't say no. If you get a chance and are interested in helping them out with their stuff (they need donations and host families) please click the button to check their website out. And no, I'm not making moniez off this. n_n

And that's all for today! Thanks for reading!

Creative Nail Design Night Factory Duo

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!! I really love MLK Day, and not just because I don't have to go to school or work today. I love it because it celebrates the life and work of someone who has had a huge impact on my life and on the lives of every single black person in the USA. Thanks to him and others like him, we can go wherever we want, do whatever we want, sit wherever we want, and best of all, hang out with whomever we want. I know that racism isn't all dead, but instead of complaining about how much work still has to be done, I think it's better to celebrate how far this nation has come. And we've come a really really long way, so claps and snaps for us! n_n
On this wonderful day, I have on Urban Oasis and Teal Sparkle, which make up Creative Nail Design's Night Factory Set. I won these a while ago from a giveaway at My Lucid Bubble, but I've been saving them for today. I thought it would be fitting to have a duo, since MLK Day is supposed to be about togetherness and unity and other such nice things.

Nina Ultra Pro Unteal You

Good news, I got a replacement camera! I've been fiddling with it for a few days, I think I understand it well enough to start posting with it, which means that we are back in real time. Yayy! Today, I've got Nina Ultra Pro Unteal You, from what I think is the core collection. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Unteal You is a mid-range, shimmery, teal blue.

I really like Unteal You. It's insanely rich and glowy and just looks gorgeous at all times. It's also an excellent candidate for a fall/winter polish, because although it is pretty in the sun, I think it looks better in the shade and indoors. It just looks deeper...like it's smoldering. I can't really explain it that well, but it's hot. I find that there's a big void in my collection when it comes to teal polishes, and Unteal You definitely helps fill that up a bit.
Unteal You's formula was typical Nina Ultra Pro stuff. Thin and a tad bit runny, but surprisingly well-pigmented. In the pictures, I'm wearing two coats of polish and one layer of topcoat, and the coverage is perfect.
But can someone explain the name to me? Unteal You? I don't get it. :(

And that is all I have for today. Have a great Saturday, ladies!

China Glaze Atlantis (Part Trois)

Happy May Day!! ^_^
Between looking frantically for a Merry Midnight dupe or an affordable bottle of the stuff since VNS took their stock down (thanks a bunch OPI azzclowns) and studying last night, I didn't have any time to change my mani. So I put on a coat of Essie Matte About You, and left it at that.

I got a little tip pull when I woke up this morning, but that's okay. This will be coming off after class. Yes, I have class (and a quiz) on a Saturday, courtesy of Snowmaggeddon. And then finals start on Monday...I don't know who thought it would be okay to give students only one full day to study for finals, when normally, we get five. But I digress.
About Atlantis, I prefer it shiny. When it's matte, it loses some of the depth that makes it so beautiful for me. Plus the glitter can't really do what it does, which is a shame. I'm going to study, and then I may try to konad over this. I think it'll be ugly, but since it'll be gone in a few hours, it doesn't really matter.
