Finger Paints Winter's Whisper + Haul

Guess what, guess what, guess whatt?! I GOT A JOB!! *does Survival Scroll dance*
It's as an office assistant in my major department's office, and even though it's going to be tedious bitch work, I am so super happay! Unemployment and brokeness begone!! ^__^
It's a shame I don't have something more cheerful on to celebrate the occasion, but oh well...we're gonna roll with it. This is Finger Paints Winter's Whisper from the Seduced by Fall Collection.

Winter's Whisper is a graphite grey polish with lots of flaky silver shimmer.

I don't really like Winter's Whisper. I admire the color...it looks so deliciously cold and industrial. But I don't like the effect that the shimmer brings. It's not the kind of shimmer that sparkles at all....it's definitely the kind that shines, which gives the polish a dull metallic sheen. It makes me feel like I colored my nails with a pencil and then covered it with topcoat....it's just so...flat. No bueno.
Application-wise, Winter's Whisper gave me a bit of trouble as well...the formula was thin, and it took about four coats to get it to bottle color. It felt like it took a million years too. But on the upside, Winter's Whisper actually went on smoothly and dried quickly.

I decided to try it matte and added one coat of Essie Matte About You to the mix.

I like Winter's Whisper much more as a matte. The flatness is so becoming and makes the polish look even colder and more industrial. Interestingly enough, the matteness really brings out that "pencil lead" look. But it somehow appears much better.

And I have some haulage to share! Don't look at me like that.
This first set of pictures are from Magic Maid's blog sale, which I  mentioned yesterday:

Konad Plate M12
That reindeer makes me so uncomfortable...why does he look so evil? o_O

Konad Plate M13
Ahh I love the little voodoo man and the zombie girl. So cute!

Sally Hansen Mystic Lilac and LA Girl Rock Star Groupie

OPI La Paz-i-tively Hot Matte and China Glaze Pink Rox-E
I've been lemming these for so long, and it's great to have them.

Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm and Misa Toxic Seduction

Finger Paints Evergreen Dream and Icy Iris
Huge huge huge lemmings, both of these. Especially Icy Iris...*sigh*

This second group is from Sephora. Upon hearing about the Family and Friends sale, I went to the website and acted a fool. :(
But the shipping was crazy fast, you know...I ordered like at 3am on Friday morning, and bam...they were here by 10am today. O_O

Illamasqua Rampage and Phallic.
Ahh I love the names on these...they sound so wild and animalistic.

Illamasqua Baptiste and NARS Tokaido Express

I would feel worse about these, except for that they were on sale. Plus, I am currently standing on top of a mountain of dead lemmings, and it feels so gewd. Plus, I'm still on budget, because I ate less than normal thi month.
PLUS. I got a job. Ohohohoho.

But that's all I've got for today...gotta gotta run to class. Wishing you a beautiful Monday! ^_^

China Glaze Pink Rox-E

           Today, I wore yet another pink polish. This time, it's Pink Rox-E, from China Glaze's Surf Collection. I'd been lemming it for a long long time, but I never got around to ordering it, until I noticed that Nicole from Magic Maid was selling it in a blog sale. And let me tell you guys....blog sales are my ultimate weakness. Someone announces a blog sale, and I always run to check it out, even when I'm not supposed to be buying. It's just that there are so many colors, and then the prices are so good. Plus it feels nice to buy from other bloggers instead of from faceless companies....I know, I need help. ;_;

Pink Rox-E is a warm, pale, peachy pink creme base with gold glass flecks.

Ahhh I love Pink Rox-E!! It's such an awesome shade of pink, and it's pretty funny that it's actually part of a surfing inspired collection, because as soon as I put it on, I was thinking about the beach. It's a very sandy shade of pink. Like, if you've ever seen pink sand...it's similar to that. Plus it makes me think of the inside of seashells. I also really like the golden shimmer. It's extremely visible (especially in the sunlight) and really warms up the whole look. Man, it's so gorgeous....definitely a lemming worth killing.
However, Pink Rox-E's downfall was its formula...so streaky! I tried to be careful, but even after three coats, there was still unevenness and streaks. One more thick coat actually made it smooth and neat, but the end result was that my nails ended up looking a little thicker than I like. No bueno. Additionally, the formula is non-Big 3 Free. I don't care, because I like the smell of chemically goodness, but I know it's an issue for some folks. From what I've seen, a Big 3 Free alternative to this color would be Zoya Cassi. I don't have it, so I can't compare, but here's a really good one from The Swatchaholic. Although the Zoya costs more, they seem to be perfectly identical, so yay.

And that's all I've got for today! Have an awesome Sunday, guys!

Funky Fingers Gaga Glitter

Ahhh it's the 22nd, already...where did the time go? October is almost over, and I still have a bunch of pinks I wanted to show you guys! So for today, I am wearing Funky Fingers Gaga Glitter, or Gaga for the purposes of this post. I'm not sure if the polish was inspired by the amazingly talented force of nature known as Lady Gaga. It's probably not. But it made me think of her, so when I saw it in Five Below, I snatched it up. Yeah, I'm a stan. u_u

Gaga is a deep but bright fucshia (with a bit of raspberry) creme base, with holographic and silver square microglitter. It makes me think of Barney, but it's not purple. And please excuse how crazy my hands look...I had to do some serious color correction on this. It still doesn't look quite right, but it's much more accurate.

I could not capture any of the holo on the nail, but it's doing pretty well in the bottle.

I like Gaga...it's not worthy to bear LG's name, but it's okay, especially for a $2 polish. The base shade of pink is pretty and interesting to look at, although it may not be that flattering on some skin tones because of how warm it is. The glitter is also cute and fun, although I wish it were...more. I mean, looking at it, you can tell that there's glitter and there are flashes of rainbow from the holo, but they aren't as prominent and sparkly as I would have liked.
The formula was a little iffy for me. It had that weird syndrome where it's a little thick and streaky going on. Even right now, I can see little ridges on the edges of my nails, where it just never leveled. But they aren't noticeable to anyone but me, so I guess it's okay. Gaga was opaque in two coats, and dried to a matte and slightly textured finish, which one layer of Poshe quickly remedied.

And this is unrelated to this color, but I have a spot of bad (or good, depending on who you ask) news: I have to cut back on posting for a little while, starting this Monday. My camera is pretty much dead and gone, and it's reached a point where it's seriously frustrating trying to take pictures. Like, I felt like screaming when I was trying today. I can't afford a new camera at the moment, but I can't handle yet another source of frustration in my life, so you guys are gonna see a little less of me. I'm sad a little bit, because I like to work on The Phalanges Files and I love interacting with you lovely people, but at the same time, I think it will be a good opportunity for me to concentrate more on other things. Like actually graduating from college. And it will be good for you to not hear my ramblings or see my sausage fingers everyday.
I'll still be stalking blogs though, so noo, you aren't rid of me just yet. Ohohohoho.

Have an awesome night, guys! ^_^

MAC Bad Fairy

I can't stay long for today because I have to study. But I wanted to quickly pop in and spam the blogosphere with a behemoth post,  full of pictures and words. Ohohoho...is evil, no? ^_^
I must be feeling the effects of my current mani, MAC Bad Fairy from the Venomous Villains Collection.

More pictures after the jump!

Essie Midnight Cami + Finger Paints Sapphire Shimmer

So I'm still wearing my crazy hand mani today. I'm a little mad, because I forewent doing my nails + I stayed up till like 3 am to finish my assignment. Then five hours later, I'm dragging myself into class, when I find out that my teacher extended the deadline to the end of the week. Because half the class didn't do it.

Omfg...

I like my teacher, but I was sooo mad at her. Since when do you reward people for not doing their homework?! But on a positive note, I have a job interview lined up for this week! I don't know if it'll amount to anything in the end, but it's the furthest I've gotten since I've started looking, so I am full of hope. But enough blah blah about my life and woes. Onto the pitchas.

This is one layer of Finger Paints Sapphire Shimmer over two coats of Essie Midnight Cami.
Sapphire Shimmer is composed of small round glitter and larger hex glitter in a sheer cobalt blue base. The glitter is silver and holo, and there is a ton of it.

It's not the most innovative thing, but I love this combo so so much!! Sapphire Shimmer's glitter is disgustingly holo...it makes me sick with joy. ^_^ The flashes of color and silver stand out really nicely from Midnight Cami's dark blue base, and the whole look reminds me of outer space. I know...lots of polishes look like outer space. But this really does look awesome, lol.  In lower light, the holo calms down a bit, so the glitter looks more silver. But there are still rainbow flashes, so basically, it's never boring. I was actually walking to the library last night (to do my freaking assignment), and even with just the streetlights, there was still mad bling and rainbows.  And in sunlight...ahhh it's absolutely dazzling. The shimmer from Midnight Cami shimmers and the glitter from Sapphire Shimmer glitters and it just makes my heart sing. My camera was even nice enough to let me make a little video:

Ahh you like my Easy Mac background, no?

I'm ready for my nails to look like a normal person's again, so I'm looking forward to sitting down with some nail polish remover later tonight. But at the same time, I'm gonna be sorry to see my left hand go. However, it did get me thinking that maybe I should stop being such a punk and try to franken an actual nail polish that looks like this. If I do, I'm not gonna use Sapphire Shimmer because I only got one bottle and they don't make this stuff no more. Which sucks...why does Finger Paints discontinue all the good stuff? But I'll try to find something with similar glitter and go from there.

And that's all I've got for today!  Have a great night, guys!!

Essie Midnight Cami

         Ahh my nails look so crazy today. On my right hand, I'm still wearing OPI DS Tapestry, which incidentally wears great! It survived hair-washing day perfectly intact, which is no mean feat. On my left hand, I'm wearing Essie Midnight Cami, from the Cuddle with Color collection. Ohoho, try saying that one five times fast. ^_^  I was just playing with it, but I got caught up doing other stuff, and somehow woke up this morning with it still on my fingers. ;_;

Midnight Cami is a blackened navy blue base with lighter blue shimmer.

I don't know why this picture is so crooked.

Midnight Cami is a pretty color. It's definitely not unique, and I wouldn't call it a must-have, but it's pretty nonetheless. In most lower lighting, it will probably only look blue to the person wearing it and maybe a more observant passerby. To everyone else, it will be black. However, in the sun, the shimmer is on fire and Midnight Cami is unmistakably blue. Personally, I like it...it makes me think of the deepest parts of the ocean.
Formula-wise, Midnight Cami was quite nice. It was very well-pigmented, and went opaque in two coats. A careful person may even be able to manage one thick coat. It also went on very smoothly and dried pretty quickly with the aid of some topcoat. My only complaint is that removing it will probably be a royal pain. Just cleaning up was hard because of the staining, as evidenced by my still blue cuticles.
Another good thing about Midnight Cami is that it makes an awesome base for most glittery and flaky topcoats. I like to layer glitter on top of black, but Midnight Cami is sexier than a black creme, easier to apply than the ones I have at the moment, and it allows glitters and flakies to stand out just as well. I actually did layer some glitter over this, but I'm gonna save that for tomorrow, because this post is already kind of long and I have a million pictures.

And with that, I'm gonna run along. Got two exams on Thursday and an assignment due tomorrow, so I have more than enough homework and not nearly enough time to get it all done. x_x Wishing you all a wonderful Monday!

L.A. Colors Electrified

In the interests of procrastinating on homework, I decided to reorganize my stash and nail supplies this afternoon. While doing that, I came across a few forgotten L.A. Colors polishes that I got at Dollar Tree this summer. One of them was pink, so I was like heyy, let me put it on. So here's Electrified, from L.A. Colors' Color Craze line.

Electrified is a cool-toned, silver-speckled, pink foil. I wish I could be more descriptive, but I really don't know what to call this shade. Any suggestions?

I don't know what I think about Electrified. I like how rich and saturated the color is, and I like how reflective and blingy it is. But then sometimes, I look at it, and it looks like a pink frost polish, instead of a foil, and I do not want.  I also don't like it with my skin...it's a little too cool. So jury's still out on this one.
But at least Electrified's formula wasn't bad...about what you'd expect from a foil. A tiny bit thick-feeling, but not unmanageable, and opaque in two coats. I made sure to take my time with application, and to let it dry a bit between coats. Consequently, I didn't have trouble with dragging, streaking, or brushstrokes. It dried pretty quickly as well, which was nice.  The only bad thing is that cleanup was hard, because of all the little silver speckles everywhere.
Overall, I'm pretty neutral about Electrified. I don't like it, but I don't dislike it. And it was only a dollar, so I think it's okay for me to feel that way, lol. Maybe it will make a good stamping polish.

Anywho, that's all I've got for today. I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!!
