Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle

Today, I've got on Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle, which is the final polish in the order that I made during their 50% off sale a couple of months ago. It's so crazy how time goes though...it feels like I bought this a long time ago.

Recycle is a slightly dark, blue-based forest green creme.

Sunlight no flash.

Natural light, no flash.

I'm so glad that I bought Recycle. Even though I had been lemming it for a long time, when the sale came and I had to make my list, I really did consider leaving Recycle off. Part of me thought that it would just be another green creme and that I'd be disappointed, and that part was absolutely wrong. Recycle is such a beautiful green polish, and I do not own anything quite like it. It's dark enough to be slightly edgy, but not so dark that it would intimidate people or be too much. Additionally, it has the perfect amount of blue and yellow in it...neither really overpowers the other, so it would be wearable for many skin tones. I'd definitely consider Recycle to be one of the more accessible greens in my collection, in that almost anyone can wear it for almost any occasion. Plus, it made my nails look longer.
As well as a lovely color, Recycle also boasts a flawless formula. It was opaque in two ultra-smooth and creamy coats, and since it was an excellent consistency and went exactly where I wanted it to, clean-up took all of two minutes. It did need some topcoat to give it a boost in the shine department, but it dried really fast. I went to bed like thirty minutes after application and woke up with no sheet marks.
With all of that said, I probably would not recommend Recycle to people who aren't really into greens, because it costs so much. If you're a hardcore green aficionado, you may not care. But for everyone else, idk if you wanna go that far. I mean...Recycle is a lovely color and the quality of the polish is excellent, but I don't think I'd pay $18 for it. What I paid ($9) was a bargain, because I'd pay up to $14 for Recycle, but $18 is kind of too much.

But that's all I've got for today! Thanks for reading, and have a nice day! ^_^

Rescue Beauty Lounge Frugalista + Blog Award!

Okay, so I've been wearing this color for the past three or four days, waiting on some sunshine and time, but I keep on finding myself coming up short on both. And now I have to change my polish due to chips, so I'm just gonna post the few pictures I have and put up more the next time I wear this. I finally got some new pictures! n_n
Here's Rescue Beauty Lounge Frugalista, from the Spring Bling collection.

Frugalista is multi-sized (small and smaller) gunmetal silver square glitter, and small fuchsia hex glitter in a clear base. It looks a little more purple in the pictures, I think, but the glitter is indeed fuchsia in person.

Frugalista is wonderful. I really like the shade of silver, and the fuchsia accents are beautiful and elegant.  In sunlight, the glitter properly sparkles, and in lower light, my nails look gem encrusted. I just love looking at my nails with this polish on...makes me feel like a rich person. LOL.
In terms of formula, Frugalista was like many other glitters in clear bases. It went on fairly smoothly, required a minute between coats, and dried fast. I did appreciate that Frugalista seemed a little more dense than my other RBL glitters though. This is three coats of polish, and the coverage is excellent...I can't see through my tips at all. However,  Frugalista is a topcoat eater...one layer of topcoat did nothing and even with two layers, my nails are still gritty.
I'm not sure I would recommend this polish to anyone but serious glitter hos because it costs an arm and leg. But if you really love silver glitter, Frugalista might be one worth picking up.

In other news, I was tagged for the Stylish Blogger Award by Varnish Vixen and Lucy from Lucy's Beauty Obsessions! They both have interesting and beautiful blogs, so if you haven't yet, go check them out!

This is the award:
Classy, huh?

And according to the rules, I have to share seven things about myself. So here we go:

1. I hate fish. I used to eat it all the time, but one day, I was eating a fish stick and I realized that the shit was nasty. Since then, even the scent of fish makes me sick. I imagine the ninth circle of hell to be Red Lobster.
2. I think feet are cute. Many of my friends are grossed out by feet, but I like them.
3. I'm an ugly girl. I have literally scared myself by looking into the mirror without proper mental preparation. :(
4. In my heart, I truly believe that chocolate-covered pretzels and Take5 bars are proof that God loves me and wants me to to be happy.
5. I never grew out of Pokemon. I'm still madly in love with it, and am upset that I never learned the Pokerap. I'm going to try to learn it this year.
6. I am an avid television watcher. I can't deal with shows that run on fuckery (Jersey Shore, Bad Girls Club, The Real World, etc.)  but a good episode of one of my favorite shows lights up my life. I swear, the apocalypse could be going on, but if there was a good episode of Lie to Me or Bones on TV, I woud be so not concerned.
7. I love babies. Especially the chubby, jolly kind...I just love their appendages. They have these fats arms and thighs, and these dimples in their knees and elbows. And if you kiss their tummies, they laugh. So cute!! ^_^

I also have to pass it on to seven other blogs, and in no particular order, here are my choices:

And that is all I've got for today! Thanks for reading!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Look Rich, Be Cheap

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! *throws confetti* ^_^
Yep, it's the first day of a brand spanking new year and I'm still basking in that clean slate, anything is possible, it's a new year bitches feeling. Of course, being back in school will crush my spirit into a million sparkly pieces and extinguish all hope in my heart, but for now, I'm just gonna bask. :D
To celebrate this lovely day, I am wearing Look Rich, Be Cheap from Rescue Beauty Lounge's Spring Bling Collection.
Look Rich, Be Cheap is a bunch of small pale gold and amethyst hex glitter in a clear base. There's mostly gold glitter though.

Look Rich, Be Cheap is a little iffy to me. One on hand, I love how spangly it is. The glitter nicely catches and reflects light, and in sunlight, it has a really luxe feel to it. Also, I like the color scheme. The purple glitter gives little pops of color, and the contrast with the gold glitter is pretty.
However, the gold glitter itself is a bit of problem for me. I was hoping for a warmer, more classic gold. Instead, Look Rich, Be Cheap features gold glitter that is cooler in tone and actually looks a touch chartreuse to me. The shade of gold does lend the polish an extra dose of uniqueness, but at the same time, I think warm colors look better on me. Also, I hate chartreuse. Because of that, I probably won't wear this that much, although I don't regret purchasing.
Formula-wise, Look Rich, Be Cheap was fine. It went on smoothly and dried quickly. In the pictures, I used four coats of polish and I'm satisfied with the coverage that I got. There are still patchy bits, but you can only see them if you look closely. I also used one layer of topcoat over the polish, and my nails are still pretty textured. For a really smooth and glassy finish, I think one would need about three layers of topcoat, but I wasn't trying to do all that.

And with that, I am all done for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's Day!!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine

Today, I'm gonna keep the Rescue Beauty Lounge party going (it's been going for a long time, huh?) with Catherine, from The Real Housewives of the Tudor Dynasty Collection.

Catherine is a smoky, greyish grape purple creme base with a ton of fine, gold iridescent shimmer. Interspersed among that stuff is small bits of turquoise and fuchsia shimmer. I think the pictures will have to be enlarged to see the detail. Or what little my camera could catch anyway.

Catherine was based off Henry's first (and my absolutely favorite) wife, Catherine of Aragon. She always seemed to me to be such a classy and good-hearted person, even when Henry was treating her like poop. I would have ripped both his and Anne's faces off and damn the consequences, but she didn't do that, and I admire her for it. Which is why it pains me to say that I don't think Catherine is that...great. I actually like Anne better. *hangs head* I mean...Catherine's not ugly. The base color is attractive and complex, shifting from pure purple to more grey and even a bit brown-y, depending on the light. And in bright sunlight, you get to enjoy the shimmer. But when not in bright sunlight, Catherine appears rather flat. It still has this richness to it, but somehow lacks the depth of Anne. Maybe because the shimmer isn't as apparent or contrasting? I don't know. But it breaks my heart. :(
Formula-wise, Catherine is right on par with Anne. It was smooth, lovely, and richly pigmented. In the pictures, I used two coats and one layer of topcoat, but a careful person could easily get away with one thick coat. And dry time was excellent. I was messing with my hair like twenty minutes after application, and there are no dings or anything.
I bought this during the RBL sale, which took some of the edge off the price. But if I could go back in time, I'd tell myself maybe not to buy Catherine. I don't think I really regret buying it because I do like it and it is pretty. But it just isn't giving me everything I wanted...like it's giving me this delicious plate of lasagna, but there's no garlic bread on the side. :(

But anyway, that's all all I've got for today! If you all will excuse me, I'm about to go luxuriate all over my bed, because I just had my last final and for the first time in forever, I have NO homework to do. ^______^

Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore

Happy December 1st! Before I get on with the polish, I just want to take a quick minute and give a shoutout to Rosa Parks. Today marks the 55th anniversary of her not giving up her seat for a white passenger, which sparked a huge bus boycott, which resulted in a landmark victory for the African American civil rights movement. It's not a real holiday or anything, but I wanted to mention it, because I think it's pretty cool.
For today, I have Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore, from the Spring Bling Collection. I've been wearing it since Sunday night, just waiting for the clouds and rain to go away, so I could finally get some pictures. So please excuse any chips or tipwear that you may see.

Locavore is small pale peridot green, fuchsia, and turquoise hex glitter in a clear base.

For a while now, I've suspected that Locavore was the very best color that Ji Baek ever came up with. But now that I'm wearing it on my hands, I'm 100% positive of that. This isn't to say that other Rescue Beauty Lounge colors are ugly or anything, but as far as I'm concerned, none of them can hold an ember to Locavore. It's pure perfection. The shade of green is unusual, and I like how it looks with my skin. I also love the little pops of color from the fuchsia and blue glitter, especially when they happen to catch the light. But most of all, I love like...the overall effect that Locavore has. It isn't one of those glitters that are ridiculous all the time and don't know how to act. Locavore is a classy bitch. When I was in class or at work, it was well-behaved, sparkling just enough to catch the eye, but mostly just showing off all its pretty colors. However, when I got it into the sun, Locavore unleashed it's inner sparkly freak and made my glitter ho heart sing. It sounded like this:

Locavore's formula was okay. It went on smoothly and dried quick, which I think is typical of glitters in clear bases. My only complaint is that I would have liked even moah glitter, so that the polish would have more even coverage. The pictures are with three coats of polish, and two layers of topcoat (one Gelous and one SH Insta-Dri - don't sleep on that!) and I still have some bald spots. From far away, you can't see them, but close up, you can. And when I hold my hands up, my tips look like this:

No bueno.
Maybe it would have been better to do four coats, but I didn't want to use up my precious. So going forward, I may try to use this over a base of some kind. Maybe a silver. But on the upside, I really like how Locavore wore...I do have some chips and tipwear, but for three or so days (one of them being travel), it's held up pretty well.

And that's all I've got for you guys today! Have an awesome night!

Okay, So I'm Extremely Tardy For the Party

But whatever, I'm still gonna say it. Happy Thanksgiving!! ^_^
I know it's been pretty dead around here for the past week, but between fighting with bus coordinators, cloudy weather at home, forgetting my bottle of acetone at school, helping to cook dinner, spending quality time with the people I love and doing my damndest to avoid the ones I don't, there just wasn't much time for nails. However, I do have pictures of the mani that I've been wearing...here it is in all its raggedy four-day-old glory.

To do this, I used:
1 coat of Rescue Beauty Lounge Under the Stars
1 coat of L.A. Colors Aqua Crystals
1 coat of Zoya Ivanka

Sunlight, no flash.

Natural light, no flash.

Sunlight, no flash.

I wasn't really going for anything in particular when I put these together. I wore RBL Under the Stars home because I was planning on re-taking the pictures for it on the next day.But the next day was cloudy + I had to go to this party. You can't go to a party with no glitter on your nails, so I slapped on the first stuff I could grab...you can kind of see how rushed this was, because the coverage is so uneven. In any case, I don't really like it. I don't think it's ugly, but I'll still be glad to see it go.

I hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekends!
